When should we start planning for our event materials?
As early as possible. Planning before materials are ordered or produced gives you more options for reuse, recovery and upcycling after your event. We can also help when materials have already been produced or are sitting in storage.
What happens during the free 30-minute Material Planning Session?
We look at the materials you're planning to use or already have, what you want to accomplish and where there may be opportunities for reuse, recovery, upcycling or community impact. You don't need to have everything figured out before the call.
What types of event materials can you help us plan for?
We work with materials including rigid event signs, conference lanyards, vinyl banners, fabric banners and other event textiles. If you have something different, send us the details and we'll explore the possibilities.
Can you help us before we print or produce our event materials?
Yes. In fact, that's a great time to talk. Material choices, sizes, construction and finishing can all affect what is possible after the event.
What if we already have materials from a past event?
That's fine too. Tell us what you have, approximately how much and where it is located. We can help identify possible next-use pathways.
Do we need to know what we want the materials to become?
No. You can come to us with the material and let us help you explore the options.
Can you work with our event planner, printer, production company or venue?
Yes. We can work alongside the partners already involved in your event to help plan material recovery and next-use pathways.
Can we choose more than one pathway for the same material?
Yes. Depending on the material and quantity, one project can include several pathways — such as products, employee experiences, youth initiatives or shared materials.
Do you work with organizations across Canada?
Yes. EMN projects and material planning are available across Canada.
Will we receive documentation about what happened to our materials?
Yes. EMN material-transformation projects include a Community Impact Report documenting the materials recovered, how they were transformed, the people and organizations involved and where the materials went next.
